WHAT TO DO8 / 8
01

Men: shave or shorten the hair

After Sa‘i, shave the head or shorten the hair. If shortening, the guide recommends taking from across the whole head to avoid differences between schools.

02

Women: trim the ends in privacy

Women do not shave their heads. Trim a small amount from the hair ends; the guide recommends about a finger joint’s length and doing so in a private place.

03

Leave Ihram and keep the good habits

With this final act, the Umrah is completed and the restrictions due to Ihram end. The sanctity and rules of the Haram still apply. Continue with prayer, good character, and care for others.

Women’s travel reminders
  • During menstruation or postnatal bleeding, a woman can enter Ihram, say the Talbiyah, and make du‘a. The guide says to wait until purity and bathing before performing Tawaf.
  • If your return date is approaching, speak with the religious guide early. These reminders are on page 51 of the PDF.
